In Norse mythology, two wolves relentlessly pursue the Moon and the Sun, respectively.
It is thanks to them that the natural cycle of days and nights is regularly maintained. Odin gave the Sun and the Moon two chariots to cross the sky and bring light to the world. But these two gods were distracted by the beauty of the world and regularly stopped to contemplate it. However, without a regular rhythm, neither gods nor humans knew when to sleep and when to stay awake.
Odin tried to threaten them, in vain. Loki, the god of cunning, found the solution by asking Hati and Sköll to pursue the Sun and the Moon, promising them that if they managed to catch them, they could devour them.
In this legend, the wolf and the moon are linked, without it being a question of howling or the phases of the moon.
